Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904) was a Czech composer who wove the dances and songs of Bohemia into symphonic and chamber music. In 1892 he moved to New York to head the National Conservatory, and there wrote the New World Symphony and the American String Quartet, drafted over one summer in a Czech settlement in Iowa. The recordings here were made for Musopen and released into the public domain.
