Alexander Borodin

Alexander Borodin (1833–1887) was a Russian composer who earned his living as a chemist and wrote music in his spare time. He is remembered for the opera Prince Igor with its Polovtsian Dances, the tone poem In the Steppes of Central Asia and two string quartets; the Nocturne from the second became one of the best-known pieces of chamber music. The recordings here were made for Musopen and released into the public domain.
